Ford looks to past, future for Woodward Dream Cruise

Ford Motor is playing at both ends of automotive history for this weekend's Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, showcasing both its iconic high-octane hot rod, the '32 Ford, and its hydrogen fuel-powered Focus Fuel Cell Vehicle.

Ford will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the '32 Ford "Deuce," arguably the most popular hot rod of all time, with a display including a modern limited edition recreation of the car, the 75th Anniversary Dearborn Deuce. Officially licensed by Ford, the all-steel Deuce is built by Hot Rods and Horsepower, LLC., and the display car is autographed by Edsel B. Ford II. From Woodward, the car will go to January's Barrett-Jackson auction, where it will be auctioned off to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The Focus Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle, touted by Ford as perhaps the most valuable and rare automobile on Woodward Avenue, will be on display in the six-block-long Ford exhibit, with another Focus FCV cruising Woodward alongside the hot rods and muscle cars. (Wonder if they'll be doing burnouts?) Ford guesstimates that the Focus FCV is worth in the neighborhood of $1 million. That's one expensive economy car.
