Jaguar announces U.S. pricing for XKR coupe, convertible

Jaguar North America chose the upmarket automotive aura surrounding Pebble Beach this weekend to announce the U.S. pricing for its new supercharged 2007 XKR Coupe and Convertible.
Pricing for the Coupe will start at $86,500, while the Convertible version starts at $92,500.
In Thursday's announcement, the 420 hp XKR models were described as, "sensational cars to drive that define the road...the 2007 XKR provides those who have an affinity for power and luxury, the combination of exhilaration and refinement."
Standard XKR features include:
- enhanced ride and handling via uprated springs and dampers, plus a recalibrated active technology suspension system
- six-speed automatic with paddle shifters ("shifts in milliseconds")
- the aforementioned supercharged V8, good for 0-60 in 4.9 seconds
- an Active Exhaust System - quiet at cruise, but pleasingly loud under hard acceleration
- unique styling features
- unique aluminum "weave" design interior trim (more traditional Poplar or Walnut veneer trim is a no-cost option)
- performance brakes
- 'R' sports seats
- 19-inch wheels
- adaptive front lighting
XKR options include a Luxury Package at $2,100 (upgraded leather, 16-way power seats, leather-trimmed instrument panel), a Premium Sound Package at $1,875 (Alpine 525-watt, 8-speaker system with SIRIUS satellite radio), and a radar-based Adaptive Cruise Control system at $2,200.

It looks like it's going to be a good seller. My local Jag dealer told me that while sales of the new XK are very strong and meeting expectations, several buyers have held off until the XKR is available.
By the way, eliminating the crossbar in the grille does a lot to get rid of that "Taurus" look.

It still looks like a jelly bean shaped Taurus.

Why would anyone spend 100,000+ on an SL550 when you could have a XKR. Good move by Jaguar to price it 10K less than the base SL. This car will do very well and I may be crazy but it might even look better than the SL which has become and little bland as it ages.

Hey DJ, go google D-type, E-type, and XJ-13. That grille was "Jaguar" long before it was "Taurus". Someday, the Taurus will be forgotten, Those Iconic Jags never will.

"Jaguar announces US pricing for XR Coupe and Convertible". Ummm hello? The new XR's have been on sale since early August and NOW Jaguar is announcing pricing?? Its no wonder Jaguar can't turn a profit and Ford can't get it right. Fire that Marketing staff and save some jobs Bill Ford!

Hey electo at post 7- these people think a house is 8000 sq. ft. and should cost at least 5 million. That's what seperates "them" from "us". But hey, some dude in Ubeckistan thinks I am rich. Go figgure.

Hey guys!
In Europe (Hungary) the XK 4.2L V8 Coupé cost $115 409 with tax, and the XK 4.2L V8 Convertible $125 863.
In may i tried a Convertible, it was $156 682.
And not only the Jags are cheaper for you. All of the cars are cheaper. You are so lucky...

The new XKR also has a number of other suspension and performance goodies included that would be close to a $12,000 upgrade from the base vehicle. From the looks of it, the 2007 XKR price increase over the 2006 model is definitely worth it.
