Nissan to unveil '07 Altima Hybrid one week from today

While the news this week will be dominated by the goings-on in Paris, Nissan is getting ready to make a spash of its own exactly one week from today.
At the Orange County Auto Show, Nissan will officially pull the wraps off the 2007 Altima Hybrid. The car is the first gasoline-electric hybrid for the automaker, and it will be greeted in the marketplace by competitors from Toyota (whose hybrid technology it uses), Honda and GM.
If you live outside of California or the Northeastern United States, you're going to be out of luck if you want one, as Nissan is only offering the car for sale in these 8 states: California, New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. The car will be built at Nissan's Smyrna, TN manufacturing facility.
We'll bring you full details on the Altima Hybrid when Nissan releases them next week. AutoblogGreen will also be following the story closely.

I just saw a masked Altima on Cloverfield Blvd in Santa Monica with Michigan plates... They're already lurking around the Los Angeles area :)

I look forward to seeing it. Does anyone know any specs on it - Nissan does well with the performance angle so I'm hoping that will carry over into the Hybrid.

I think the design of the altima is not bad. I like the amber lights

i like amber lights too. american car companies shouldnt really cheap out on signal lights by integrating the tail light, the brake light and the signal light into one red light in the back, its hard to tell when a person is braking or signaling at times, esp when the sun is nice and bright or if one of the lights are out. oops off topic. hehe

Hopefully with all these new hybrids the price for a hybrid car will go down.

Camry hybrids are selling for $5000 above sticker in L.A. I too hope this helps equalize some of the supple and demand problem.

Rather than amber, Nissan should have gone for the "smoked" look. How much trunk space did the Altima lose by rounding its boot.

Thats a nice looking colour. I think green is making a comback. Many car companies are offering it. Im sick of silver.

I don’t know if its legal buy a hybrid in New Hampshire. The hybrid badges would clash with the Live Free or Die on our license plates.

VQ25HR would be fine with a nice 6 speed stick.

Why isn't this article filed under hybrids?
Nice car. Now if only GM and DCX will do something similar with thier hybrid transmission.

A little late to the Hybrid Party, but it should do well. Design is clean enough to not offend.
